I unintentionally got someone fired So I took a part time job seasonally a few months ago. One of the security guards first asked for my number "for security purposes" and I didn't think anything of it at first so I gave it to him. About a month later I left my lunch box at work and since I work full time in addition I wasn't going to be back to work for a few more days.

He reached out to tell me and I asked if he could leave it in my locker and thought that was the end of the conversation. A few hours later he text me asking "how's it going?" I replied with a short answer and then he followed up with "Can I ask you a few questions for security reasons?" So I said yes and then he asked me if I was single and followed up with "Are you into guys?". I said I wasn't interested and kept the response short. He also came in to my other job prior to this text interactio

The next day I went to work I was in close proximity with him and felt uncomfortable since it was just the two of us in the office while my other co-worker took lunch. Once the other co-worker came back I mentioned being glad that they were back because I felt uncomfortable and he asked and the second I mentioned he was trying to hit on me, he immediately got up and told a manager because he said it was been an issue before. The following week I worked with

the co-worker and tried to limit my interactions with him as much as possible as the managers asked me to tell them what happened and they also spoke with him as well. Last Friday they fired him and I found out on Sunday. I know I didn't do anything intentionally to cause this but I feel bad for even mentioning what happened and causing him to get fired.

firemaiden79 You didn't cause him to get fired, his actions did. If they fired him then they know and have seen how bad he can get when it comes to harassing people in the work place. Don't feel bad that he got fired he knew what he was doing was wrong but did it anyway.

Obse55ive The security guard had this issue before you. Who knows how many people he would've sexually harassed if you had not said anything. Actions have consequences and he reaped those.

DilligentlyAwkward He's a predator. He was rightfully fired as a result of predatory behavior.

Cali_Holly Security guards have no legal authority to ask you questions for security reasons." Nor do they need your phone number. If you have any questions about a request like that, then go to your manager.

Brief Buddy_7848 Pleeease don't feel bad for him, you didn't get him fired, HE got HIMSELF fired. Who knows who else he would have preyed upon if you hadn't said anything, his next target might have been someone way more naive and vulnerable.

cowgrly He abused his role and made you afraid, that is completely inappropriate and unsafe. He got himself fired.

Rideshare-Not-An-Ant Nope. Nope. Nope. HE got HIMSELF fired. He'd been warned to stop doing this kind of thing.

BurnerLibrary That guy was fired for his own repeated actions. He'd have done it to the next person had he not been fired. Companies owe staff a safe place to work.

atchisonmetal There's got to be a curb on behavior we don't like. He lost his job because he did these things not only with you but apparently others. He should have known better, but he didn't.

Old_Life1980 If he could possibly find out that you were the reason (or just the last straw) he got fired, please make sure that you're safe. He has your phone number, and with that he could find out a lot more information about you. I'm not trying to scare you, but I also watch entirely too much Dateline and see what happens when a man is rebuffed and then fired as a result of his poor choices.

TheTropicalDog Don't feel bad. That's the first thing. you need to process. That man is highly inappropriate & absolutely needed his a handed to him. Hopefully he learned his lesson but I highly doubt it. Ya did good kid!

Slow_Balance270 I was a lead for a cleaning company for awhile and found out one of the janitors was harassing women so badly that they were refusing to come in to work. If I had known about it I would have fired him myself and I lack that authority.

Lopsided_Tomatillo27 This isn't your fault. He has a habit of making women uncomfortable at work. This was his last chance and he blew it. If it wasn't you it would have been someone else. But he still would have gotten himself fired. It's his fault for making you uncomfortable, not your fault for being uncomfortable.
